unfinished – a poem

i’m not gonna lie and say it doesn’t hurt but
i’m also not gonna lie and say it does.

the truth is fickle
like a candle flickering
one false move
and the flames die.
embers burning fire blue
because there is no more me
and you

there are the fragments of discolouration,
a once upon a time
memory stuck into the pages of
scrapbooks
and i’m not gonna lie and say it doesn’t hurt
but i’m also not gonna lie and say it does.

i am, you are, we will
be perpetual.
a distant dream
a faded love
and it goes on.
it really does.
past the pages of yearbooks
past the dredges of time

we are the past
and i ache quietly
for the loss of who i used to be.

  1. I think your blog makes me feel connected, even if we don’t talk/text that often.
I like that I still know what’s happening in the world of char.
